The Holistic Way

Accepting a Holistic Diet

What's in a Holistic Diet?

A complete and balanced diet for pets is one that includes a variety of fresh, whole, chemical-free food. Dogs and cats are carnivores. In the wild, a dog or cat thrives on raw meats and predigested grasses and greens. As long as these natural foods are plentiful, a wild animal will usually enjoy a long and disease-free life. This is because a natural diet contains live animo acids, live enzymes and live probiotics; the food embodies a living energy of its own. These are the components missing from most commercial pet foods. The food loses its life once it is cooked.

There are hundreds of pet foods on the market. Each manufacturer tries to convince you its product is superior. Some even assure you their diets are holistic, providing your animal with "all the necessary vitamins and minerals" that comprise a "complete and balanced diet". What they fail to tell you is that merely adding vitamins and minerals to a blend of over-cooked grain does not constitute a balanced diet.

A holistic diet is one that supports the entire animal by providing every natural component needed to nurture every internal biological system. The whole organism maintains a greater state of health when it is properly supported and balanced.
