Healing Episode: Natural Purifying in Action
|
|
When you change your pet's diet to natural raw foods and PHD, he or she will begin to exhibit greater physical and emotional vitality. He will have more energy; clearer, brighter eyes; and a sense of being more settled . At the same time he will be more responsive to you and his environment. His coat usually becomes more luxurious, while his body becomes more compact and contoured. A return to puppy or kitten like behavior is the strongest reassurance that health is improving.

In about 20 percent of our pets, as this resurgence of health happens, there can be short episodes of symptom-like signs known as a Healing Episode. This usually happens as early as a few days, to several months later. Symptoms are usually witnessed as excessive flaking or a return of old sores; in the coat as hair loss, thinning or generally poor appearance; or as an unsettled digestive system, seen as soft bowels and or diarrhea, with or without mucous or blood. These are good signs, and show the animal's body eliminating undesirables. As long as your pet is bright-eyed and has good energy and a good appetite, these periods will go away by themselves. Very rarely is any medical intervention necessary.
Providing fresh pure water or diluted chicken broth will help you and your pet get through the Healing Episode. Feeding half rations for a day or two after the episode also helps bring back health uneventfully.

| A Healing Episode is a natural process. Because you have increased the quality of your pet's nutrition, your pet's body has summoned enough vitality to relieve itself of unwanted toxins and more deeply rooted disease. On a diet that does not provide adequate nutrition, low levels of infection can never be completely shed because the body lacks the life energy and nourishment to effectively rid itself of deeper disease. This inability allows chronic disease to exist.

| Do not interfere with the Healing Episode. If you do, with chemicals or even natural remedies, you reduce the likelihood of long-term cure. Treatment of the localized condition, and not taking into account the strength of the animal's general well-being, can make you lose sight of the overall (holistic) situation. Failure to notice the strength of general well-being can result in overmedication for the purpose of relieving our own fears.
If, however, your pet lacks energy, is dull, not clear in the eyes, does not eat for more than 48 hours or appears truly sick, a trip to the veterinarian is in order. Listen to what your inner voice is telling you and proceed knowing that while your pet is on a healthy diet Wellness is making its way into your home.
