I have a 5 year old male indoor/outdoor black cat named Mellow.  He used to eat the barn cat food until one day he roamed away like he'd often done.  This time though, he was gone for over two weeks.  I missed him so much and was so worried, that I decided to make a change for him if he ever came back.  I learned about the phd healthy cat food from Darrell.  Then I decided I would give Mellow's diet as much care and nutrition as I give myself......if he would just come home.
Mellow did come home, right when I made that decision and has enjoyed his new diet ever since.  It's been one year now and he hasn't wandered at all!  Maybe he was out searching for better food all those trips he roamed away.

Since my dog Baron has been using the endurance formula, he no longer wants his department store biscuits.  He used to ask for them every day.  Now I give a biscuit to him and he drops it or walks around with it in his mouth and drops it somewhere else.  His breath is better too.
He gets excited when he knows he's getting the Endurance.  I sprinkle it on his kibble food and add a tiny amount of water.  I've never seen him get excited about his food before now.

Serifino is our 1 year old male cat. He is very loving, affectionate. When we got him as a kitten he had a big tummy and he was eating the no name brand cat food. We had the bag given to us when we got him. He would eat and eat and eat. We could not figure out why. This did not make sense to me.  Then a friend of mine mentioned this new food [phd] we bought it, started to feed it to Serifino. The first day he ate a little less. The second day he ate less, by the 3rd day he was eating 1/2 the amount of food that he had been. We could not believe it. Also, when I had ran out of his [phd]cat food, a friend had gave me a small bag of a cheaper cat food. Serifino would not eat the food. He did not eat for 2 days. When I got his [phd]  food again he ate, was happy and was content. Wow, what does that tell you! He is now a long, slender, happy, healthy cat. Even the other day when we ran out, we gave him another brand of food. He ate and ate. Seemed to not be able to get enough. When I gave him the [phd] again he ate 1/2 the amount and was content. We are very grateful to have started him on this food and would recommend it to anyone who loves their cat. They deserve it!

January 2006      MARIE LYNE B.        MONTREAL, Quebec
I have 4 Shetland dogs that I switched to NDF May 2005. At the time they were 3 months, 1½, 2½, and 13 years of age. All were healthy but the oldest one, which had been diagnosed with chronic bowel syndrome, and she had been taking Salazopyrin for the past several years. She was also eating a special Science Diet food. This regimen just kept her going at a tolerable comfort level and when I tried to lower or wean her off meds, the problematic symptoms flared back up (blood in the runny stool, vomiting). She also did not have a very good appetite (often had to feed her myself or she just would not eat). She also had what I thought was ”old age” problems. I had to continually (minimum 4 times a day) administer hydrating tears to her eyes or she would get infections; she continually got what I now know to be hot spots around her muzzle; the black of her nose was slowly dehydrating so that cracks were appearing instead of the nice smooth often wet nose dogs have; she also had so much dandruff I thought that it was normal because she did not complain (scratch or anything else); and last but not least, I had to always be on the alert because she just could not hold her urine as long as she used to (normally a dog can go quite a long time - 10 to 12 hours, she was down to 4 - 6 hours max). I stopped the medications cold turkey, and since she just would not eat beef or the NDF cereal, I was successfully feeding her chicken, rice, homemade oatmeal and vitamins (as is suggested in Wendy Volhard’s book). After 1½ months, I introduced the NDF diet as is and she has been quite happy since then. The results that ensued are just short of unbelievable!!
Her bowel problem completely disappeared (this very quickly) and to this day she has the nicest looking doggy doodoo she has had in forever (sorry for the mental picture but I can't help myself when I compare the before and the now picture!!). She eats with an appetite (waits like all the others when meal time comes around). I no longer need to hydrate her eyes - they are clear of any leaking. Her nose rehydrated to a normal texture and no more hot spots. She also now has the nicest pink looking skin (for a 14 year old dog!!) with no more white flakes. And last but not least, she no longer is in constant need to go peepee without being able to hold it until she is outside. All of this was achieved with about 2 months of natural diet and got better and better within 6 months. One of the nicest things that makes all the worrying and the fine-tuning worthwhile is when I see her rub her head in her bed after each meal. She has reconnected with the simple joy of feeling good, something that she had lost with the problems plaguing her.  I am hoping that because I have started my other dogs early on this natural eating regiment, I will reap the benefits in the long run. I can only go by what I experienced with my ailing older dog and it seems the way to go… People are skeptical until they make the change and see the results for themselves.
